Sparkly, sandy writing 

You need: 

1. Sand- Enough for a thin layer on a flat tray 

2. Water- Enough to submerge your sand 

3. Glitter- A light sprinkling for attractiveness 

How to make it: 

1. Put a thin layer of sand in the bottom of a tray and top with glitter before adding a small amount of water to immerse the sand. 

How can it be used to support learning: 

1. Isolating a finger 

2. Making horizontal, vertical and circular movements  

3. Tracking 

4. Hand awareness- where are their hands and how do they move to touch items? 

5. Knowing that their actions produce a result 

6. Exploring different movements/letters/shapes using their finger 

7. Working on moving from left to right when making marks 

8. Making a regular pattern using different types of marks
