EYFS Space
Physical development takes place through the school’s MOVE programme, climbing frames, swings, trampolines, bikes and slides. Everything is adaptable, from the class timetable to cutlery, paintbrushes, chairs and tables – to provide the right level of support for each child. We have full access to the specialist learning areas across the rest of the school.
We use a total communication approach, using various tools and aids including symbols, photographs, objects of reference, touch cues or sensory calendars alongside simple verbal language and labels. We value experiences and hands-on learning, allowing children the chance to broaden their horizons and offer exciting opportunities throughout their time with us.
Play is at the heart of Early Years. We recognise that our children may need support to develop play skills and interactions with other children. Our adults are highly-trained professionals with a wealth of knowledge in early child development and years of experience. They lead sessions, structure learning, challenge children to achieve and always focus on the positive!
You will see achievements celebrated across the Early Years department with displays of children’s work and photographs of learning in action. Parents are invited to our weekly sharing time assemblies. We focus on enabling children to feel safe, supported and encouraged by the positive interactions from staff, their enthusiasm and celebration of the individual children’s achievements.
