Colourful cous cous
Colourful cous cous
You need:
-
Giant cous cous (The amount is dependent upon you but I like at least six bags)
-
Three to four colours of paint (The colour choice is yours but red, blue and yellow is always nice)
How to make it:
-
Buy as much giant cous cous as you would like your child to play with.
-
Separate the cous cous into fairly equal sized sections before placing a section at a time in a bowl and painting with your hand or by mixing with a spoon.
How it can be used to support learning:
-
Exploring texture
-
Developing listening skills– Hide objects in the cous cous and ask your child to find them when you give a symbolic and/or verbal cue
-
Developing problem solving skills- Searching for particular colour/type/number of items
-
Filling, emptying, pouring, pouring with accuracy
-
More and less- Fill two cups with the cous cous and ask your child to identify which has more and which less/Show your child an amount of cous cous in a cup and ask them to fill another cup with more or less than you have in your cup
-
One and lots- Asking your child to make groups of and identify which is one and lots from two containers of the cous cous
